Better Than Drugstore Skincare Routine + Products

One thing I love sharing about is my skincare routine. While I don’t have what you would call troublesome skin I still know it’s important to take care of my skin and make it a priority everyday.

I’ve used SO MANY products. So many skincare routines. I’ve run the gamut on low end to top end cleansers and moisturizers and serums. From spending $3-5 on drugstore skin products all the way to spending $200+ on products — I’ve tried all the in between.

So last summer I set out on the hunt to find a quality skincare routine. One with all the bells and whistles. I wanted something that I could use to not only help my skin feel refreshed and healthy NOW, but one that will continue to give my skin longevity. And now, 8 months later I can finally say I’ve found it! I wanted to give these products a good run before giving my stamp of approval and I’m ready to do that.

Let’s start with what I was using.

After using drug store facial cleansers for years (like Neutrogena and Clean and Clear) I had finally upgraded myself to Clinique’s lineup. They have a 3-step system that includes a facial soap, clarifying toner and a moisturizer that I used for a while. I cut out the toner and moisturizer, and was left with facial soap. It was fine, but I just never felt great about my skin.

After Clinique, I gave Rodan + Fields a try. A sweet friend works for them, so I not only wanted to support her business, but had been so interested in trying their products. The heavy drawback of course is the price. They are honestly way out of my budget, but I splurged and gave them a shot. I will say they lasted a LONG time. However, for my skin type I simply didn’t see huge drastic changes in my skin, so I parted ways with those products. They’re phenomenal products and if I had to choose between Clinique or those, I’d go with R+F everyday. But ultimately they didn’t fit my budget and I wasn’t seeing the results I was expecting.

I was left with okay.. what now?! I wanted something better than drugstore quality, but more affordable than R+F.

Enter, Tula.

My dream come true.

QVC ran a special on one of their kits back in October that I couldn’t pass up. They were selling a bundle with the Purifying Cleanser, Hydrating Day & Night Cream, Aqua Infusion Serum and the Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum all for $54. And that I could not pass up. I figured if I didn’t like it, then I still got a heck of a deal.

LADIES.

I was obsessed after one week of using them. My skin was healthier and fresher than it had felt or looked in years. That’s even given that I was pregnant at the time during which I always have horrid skin. And even still, I could see and feel such a dramatic difference.

And in my postpartum season, my skin has continued to get better and better. I will randomly get surges of hormones as they’re still adjusting which will cause a breakout here and there, but overall my skin hasn’t felt or looked this good in forever.

Cleanser

The Purifying Cleanser is mild and refreshing. It helps to remove any leftover makeup that my makeup cloth doesn’t remove. It has a silky, smooth texture that feels like butter on your face. Legit — amazing.

By the way — you can get my makeup cloth here >>> microfiber makeup cloth remover.

I swear by my h20 makeup cloth. It’s a definite must have.

After I cleanse I’ll use the Aqua Infusion Power Liquid or the Illuminating Face Serum (this is currently out of stock on their site where you can use a discount code and I’m dying for it to come back!). My favorite is definitely the illuminating serum, but the aqua infusion is a close runner up. The aqua infusion gives my skin a boost of hydration, but the illuminating serum helps to lighten up any dark spots on my skin and gives me an automatic glow and brightens my complexion.

The  is an amazing addition to my nighttime routine. It helps to reduce wrinkles and puffiness. Love, love, love this stuff.

Moisturizer

And without a doubt, hands down the very best part of the whole skincare line up is this stuff.

The Hydrating Day and Night Cream. This cream is loaded with probiotics and superfoods so I feel great putting it on my skin twice a day. It literally has revived my skin. It has nourished it from my years of sun damage and given me back the complexion I’ve wanted for so long. I cannot rave enough about these products. And especially this day and night cream. It was a game change for me and is really what sold me on Tula.

Fragrance

I know the scent of things can either turn women on or off and I will say that’s another thing I love about Tula. They’re naturally derived skincare products, but have a very mild refreshing smell. Not too strong. Just a hint. It’s perfect in my opinion.

Refreshed & Hydrated

And finally, here’s a photo of my non-makeup self (okay, just some eyebrows ’cause y’all aren’t ready to see that). A raw photo of my skin in it’s truest form. It is by and far the healthiest it has been in YEARS.
