Bump Date: 13 Weeks

July 3, 2018 by nikkidockery Leave a Comment

Welcome, to this baby’s first update!

I am nearing the end of this wretched first trimester. It has been a doozy that’s for sure… Can’t wait to say goodbye to this first trimester next weekend!

How Far Along? 13 weeks, 2 days. My due date is January 6. However, I’m crossing my fingers he comes in December!

Size of Baby: A Matchbox car!

Weight Gain: No weight gain yet — thankfully! I’ve been keeping a specific eye on my weight this time around because I’m a lot heavier starting out this pregnancy since I didn’t lose all my weight after Carter (thank you breastfeeding…!!). So while I’m not necessarily tracking my food, I’m definitely watching what I eat more particularly this time around.

Still breastfeeding? Yep. But we are mostly weaned. He’s down to maybe once every other day or so. I don’t offer it, so it’s only when he asks. Which is exactly how I wanted to wean. It’s less stressful this way for everyone involved. I fully expect Carter to be done within the next couple months though. It’s bittersweet, but I’m eager for a break before starting up again.

Stretch marks/Swelling: I’ve had a little swelling on the days I don’t hydrate enough, but otherwise it’s pretty minimal.

Symptoms: Oh my gosh… the symptoms. Around week 5 I was experiencing extreme fatigue. Like I was falling asleep at 630-7PM every evening. And then around week 6 the nausea hit. And it has yet to let up. I have been nauseas every single day for the last 6 weeks, with some bouts of puking in there. It’s been incredibly awful. Nausea coupled with horrible headaches, which is also pretty typical for me during first trimester. Though I’ve never had this much nausea, so it’s been a rough first tri.

Cravings: Craving crunchy veggies like carrots, cucumber, celery and cauliflower. And salad! I’ve been eating a salad almost everyday.

Gender: It’s a boy! More on that later. 😉

Mood: Sick of being sick. And so thankful this is the last time I have to do this pregnancy thing!

Nursery: Baby C and new baby will be sharing a room, so we’ll be working on figuring out a room sharing situation later. For now, all we’ve got is the baby’s mattress courtesy of Newton Baby Rest.

Movement: I have always felt movement very early on. And this baby is no exception. I started feeling flutters a couple weeks ago. I feel movement every so often.

Sleep: Pretty good for the most part.

Workouts: Zilch. See above ^^ morning sickness all day everyday has made my workouts drop to a zero.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing in particular, just a general feeling of being nauseous all the time!

Best Moment This Week: Finding a new doctor!

So long story short…. my OB stopped practicing. Which was devastating. So I set out to find a new OB. I saw a new one two times and after those couple of visits I just wasn’t feeling it. She diminished the importance of mental health postpartum, told me I went to the wrong hospital during an emergency situation a couple weeks ago, and was just outright rude to me. Her office staff is also equally as rude. On top of it, I had to go to the hospital to get all blood work, labs and ultrasounds done. Do you know how hard it is to make three separate appointments when you have three kids under 4???? Yeah. Impossible.

So I searched for a new OB. They provide all other services in office, so I won’t have to make extra trips to get everything done. I had my first appointment there last evening and it went great. I met with the physicians assistant, got all routine bloodwork done and overall had a great first appointment including hearing baby’s heartbeat on the doppler for the first time! I have a great feeling about this office and already feel much more confident and comfortable in being a patient there.

And my 13 week bump is out of control…. man. This thing is gonna be the size of a house by the time December rolls around.
