I’m finally getting to share one of my favorite parties to put together! Carter’s First Birthday was just over a month ago and we did a “Where the Wild Things Are” theme. This is a childhood favorite of mine, it’s been introduced into our family, the boys already love it and I hope they pass it on to their children some day too.
I love the art in this book and wanted to bring bits and pieces of it to life for Carter’s party. I wasn’t able to do all the things I had imagined due to an unexpectd family tragedy that happend the week before, but it ended up turning out pretty great.
Thanks again for our family and friends who showed up to celebrate this little man’s first birthday. First birthdays are so, so special so we’re thankful for those who took time out of their busy lives to come spend a couple hours with our little guy.
First and foremost, I have to talk about my FAVORITE piece of this party, Carter’s Wild Things Crown which was beautifully hand crafted by the talented Mrs. Emma Horne, owner, founder and creator over at Midwest Nest.
The moment I saw this I started sobbing. It is gorgeous. So beautifully made, by a talented sewist and seamstress. This is something I will keep forever and treasure for the rest of my life (I’m literally tearing up as I type this because it just means that much to me). It will always remind me of our baby boy’s first birthday and the special meaning he has brought to our life. Thank you Emma for creating such a unique and special crown for us. We will treasure it, forever.
And if you have little girls in your life? You have to go see the other amazing accessories Midwest Nest has in their shop. The most adorable mini purses, backpacks and hair accessories you’ll find. I cannot rave about this shop enough!
I really wanted to take him outdoors to get these photos, but unfortunately the weather has just been too stinking cold, so we had to make due with indoors. But the first day we hit 50ish we’re heading outside for an impromptu shoot!
Now on to the party decor!
