I haven’t done a little life update in awhile…. and when I was thinking about what to post this week, I reminded myself why I started this blog — to document my life! In all the craziness that it is. While I have been able to turn this platform into my own small business, it’s still a source for me to document my days and have a place I can always go to look back at how life was.
First things first…. our sweet baby C is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD. I cannot fathom how this has happened. Every time I did a monthly update I stated how quickly the time was passing. Nearly one year later, this is truer than ever. I have started to plan his first birthday party and process all the emotions of dealing with my baby turning one.
His birthday is so significant for more reasons than just a day of birth. His life restored my heart last year. I have an entire post about this that I will share next month closer to his birthday, but he was most definitely the greatest thing to happen in 2017. And for that I am eternally grateful. Here’s a few new things he’s been up to lately….
Weight: He’s holding steady 19ish pounds. He seems to be getting taller and losing the chunkiness he once had. But I can already start to see him as a toddler and it makes me a little less sad and more excited about how fun this summer will be.
Milestones: He started really crawling near the end of 9 months / early 10 months. Pretty close to when Kaiden started moving too. And since he started he hasn’t stopped (hence why we don’t always encourage new movement.. ha!). He stands on his own a lot, but hasn’t really been interested in taking steps just yet. And to be honest… I forget sometimes that he could be walking any day now. It seems like he just started crawling. I’m not ready for walking yet!
Eating: This kid LOVES TO EAT. He never turns down a food and inhales basically anything we put in front of him. I’m hopeful his good eating habits will stay since we already deal with enough pickiness from his two older bros. I also think the baby led weaning has a lot to do with his large palette (I have a post coming more on this too!). I totally wish I had known more about BLW with K & C, but lessons learned. He’s still nursing several times a day and we haven’t started weaning yet (see why here…). He drinks breastmilk out of a straw cup 1-2x a day.
I am just loving the stage we’re in right now. I love the age baby C is at. And Kaiden and Cameron are great ages where they play together so well (most of the time) and love on their baby brother so, so much. It’s the sweetest thing ever. They are becoming more and more independent (forcefully so… haha) and it’s a little flash into what our life is becoming in the nearing years.
We started working on finishing our basement too. We are having Carter’s first birthday party down there, so it’s pushed us to get things rolling. Our basement is technically “finished”, but hasn’t been updated in years. So we’re updating it with new ceilings, carpet and some paint on the walls. We don’t even need dry wall because we have knotty pine half walls which are great to have in case of flood purposes (and when you live in a flood zone like we do… you want those). So we’re keeping the knotty pine, but painting it to update it. All in all, we don’t have a whole lot to do. It’s just actually taking the money and the time to get it done is where we’re at now.
The boys are still in swim class & loving it! I am so thankful we found Aqua-Tots! They have progressed SO MUCH over the last few months. I cannot recommend them enough to everyone with children!
Another new thing in our world…. the boys have stopped going to preschool as of this week and I will be homeschooling them for the remainder of the school year. After several admin difficulties with their school office, I decided to pull them and spare myself the headache and stress — not to mention saving us a boatload of money per month. There’s only a few months left of the school year anyway, so we’re gonna make it work. They were a little sad about it, but like I always say, this time with them is fleeting. I want to make the most of it while they’re still home with me. Cameron will go to a new preK next year and Kaiden will be off to Kindergarten full-time. So we’ll enjoy the next 8 months together while we can!
Also… WE’RE GOING TO DISNEY! We’re not going until October, but man I AM SO EXCITED! I’ve never been there before so I’ll be just as excited as the boys will be.
