January brings cold temperatures, sickness and dry skin, but it also brings us closer to the BIG GAME! And honestly, it’s pretty much my favorite part of the New Year. I get a little sad about football season ending, but it means I get to throw a big party and get Game Day Ready with friends and family!
My beloved team rarely makes it to the Big Game, but I love watching it anyway and cheering on the teams that did make it and mostly love hosting a big party with food, drinks and fun. Because who doesn’t love a day filled with football and appetizers galore?! And while we wait in anticipation to see who gets into the Big Game…. we might as well start planning for it! We’re just a few weeks out from the party, so let’s get Game Day ready.
Getting Game Day Ready
Game Day Gear
The most important is, of course, making sure my game day gear is in shape for the Big Game with the help of Persil® ProClean® laundry detergent. Even though my favorite and beloved Detroit team NEVER makes it to the Big Game, I still rep them because I got mad love for them and ya know what — a girl can dream! I get the entire family’s team gear ready for the Big Game first and foremost. I recently picked up Persil laundry detergent at Walmart and am loving it.
I have an older style washer (it came with our house when we bought it and we’ve never gotten a new one), so I need a really great detergent to work in my favor. Persil ProClean delivers 10 dimensions of clean to stand up to the crazy messes these BOYS make constantly.
I’m also a sucker for a good smelling detergent and LOVE the way Persil laundry detergent gets our laundry smelling and feeling after the wash.
Luckily, Persil laundry detergent can be used in ANY washer, old or new (like a high efficiency washer). It gets our game day gear in pristine condition, removing stains and odors from my little boys football jerseys on the first wash. And just like that our team gear is PERFECT and ready to rock for the Big Game.
Prime Time Seating
Clearly, you need to make sure you have enough chairs. I know this may seem like a no brainer, but you wouldn’t believe how many times I forget to pull out the extra chairs….. so here’s your reminder! Pull out extra chairs! And most importantly, make sure your TV is in a prime location for watching the game. Our’s is in a good location and doesn’t need to be rearranged, but sometimes your living room may warrant a little rearranging to make sure everyone has a good vantage point.
Game Day Snacks & Drinks
Basically, the best part of Game Day is the food and the drinks, #amiright?! Some of my favorites to make for Game Day are homemade turkey chili (a fan favorite here!); chips, salsa and guacamole; my Bacon Ranch Cheeseball is a regular crowd pleaser; and this year I’m adding in a new app and trying these loaded potato wedges. YUM.
We usually ask friends and family to bring their favorite drinks and we’ll provide the food. Seems like a good trade off to me! I also want to try this coconut rum punch this year.
Clean Up + Decorate
Probably my least favorite part…. but someone’s gotta do it. Instead of tackling the entire house to clean I mainly focus on the areas most people will be in. And while I know my friends and family don’t really care what my house looks like — I DO! So I clean the living room, kitchen and both bathrooms. One thing I also do is make sure I wash all of our couch cushion covers since that’s where we’ll all be spending most of our time that day!
That’s it! You’re game day ready with a few simple steps. Do you plan a big Game Day party? What are your favorite snacks to include? Share them with me in the comments below!
