Today’s post was sponsored by Aqua-Tots, but as always, all opinions are my own.
I’ve been sharing some of my favorite non-toy gifts and ways to serve during this holiday season… today I wanted to share some tips on how to choose the perfect stocking stuffers. There have been so many times I’ve bought useless things to throw into a stocking that end up tossed on the toy room floor a couple days later and eventually swept into a garbage bag.
This year I encourage you to put a little more thought behind what you put into your stocking and make it be something that will continue to be valuable ALL YEAR LONG! It doesn’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful!
Guide to Choosing the Perfect Stocking Stuffers
1 // MAKE IT VALUABLE
You can give the gift of swim lessons from Aqua-Tots to your child, your grandchild, niece, nephew — you name it! It’s a precious item that is a great stocking stuffer, but goes beyond the stocking and will last long after the novelty of Christmas wears off. Give them the gift of safe swim in 2018!
There is still time to purchase a gift certificate in any denomination or prepay for swim lessons at Aqua-Tots. When you prepay for 6 months you will get one month of FREE LESSONS! And if you prepay for 12 months of lessons you will get an additional TWO MONTHS of free lessons!
This is such a precious life saving gift to put into a stocking this year, coupled with a pair of swim goggles.
2 // MAKE IT USEFUL
While I LOVE the Target dollar spot (with all my heart and soul!) it is filled with useless junk most of the time. So much stuff no one really needs! Fill your stockings with more useful items like a new toothbrush, socks, pencils or other school supplies they may need now that we’re halfway through the school year. Yes, they might be “boring” but at least these items are guaranteed to be USED and not be tossed away in a couple weeks.
3 // EXPERIENCES
This is the perfect opportunity to include some really awesome experiences or passes into your gift giving. Dress them up in a cute card or homemade envelope! You can check out an awesome list of other non-toy ideas HERE, but gifting movie passes or an entry to see a local museum is something every child will start looking forward to getting in their stocking each year.
4 // COMPLIMENTARY
A stocking is the perfect place to add a complimentary gift to a bigger gift that your child will be opening too. Headphones, swim goggles for those swim lessons, gloves and a hat to pair with a new coat, etc. The options are endless.
My biggest piece of advice? Avoid the dollar spot at Target (or dollar stores in general for useless, random crap). It’s pretty much a waste of money and your kids will forget about it all soon after it’s pulled out of the stocking. Fill your stocking with months of swim lessons or another experience that is entertaining and valuable throughout the year and not just on Christmas morning.
